Greetings in Christ!

We pray that this finds all of you enjoying the last full month of winter. Both the Island and Christ Serve Ranch are beautiful with a light coating of fresh snow every day or two. We do hope you can come out and visit.

Walter Goedelpassed away on Monday, February 3. Walter was a dear man who loved the Lord. He had a true love of young people and worked with them in Wadena as well as through his membership on the board of directors of Lutheran Island Camp. He provided the camp with a beautiful pontoon and lift which has been a real blessing over the last many years. Whenever he came out to camp, he would share stories of his youth, of hunting, and fishing. He was certainly ready to spend eternity with his Lord.

We received word today that the Rev. Olliver Schultzpassed away last Friday. Ollie was instrumental in youth ministry, education, and social ministry in our district for many years. He also was a supporter of Lutheran Island Camp throughout his ministries in Montevideo and Long Prairie. May God bless our memories of Ollie and also be with his family as they celebrate his life and ministry. For more information: http://www.fullerspeckienhulke.com/obituaries/176-Schultz-Rev-Oliver-M

Once again this year we will be offering some of our staff and volunteers to help with VBS programs throughout our service area. Costs will be dependent on the number of days and staff members we think it will take. If you have any interest in having Lutheran Island Camp staff help with your VBS, please give us a call right away. We have begun the process of hiring staff and will need to know how many will be needed.  Our theme this year is Awesome God.

This summer Lutheran Island Camp will be doing some outreach work with area resorts and state parks. We’ll be looking for volunteers to help with communications, with worship and with music. Please give us a call if you would be willing to share a few hours each week to reach out to people in our area.  We may also be doing some outreach work in the Duluth area

Winter Adventure was great fun this past weekend although numbers were down. We also hosted a couple of confirmation retreats.  This next weekend camp will be full with lots of confirmation kids coming over from St. Matthews in Eskoalong with a smaller confirmation group as well.

Question and Answer:

Question: How many camperships do you give each year?

Answer: Every person coming to camp actually receives a discounted rate of 30-50% from what it actually costs us. In addition we provide specific camperships of $10,000 to $15,000 each year.
