Greetings in Christ!
We hope each of you had a fun Valentine’s Day and enjoyed time with those whom you love.
We were once again blessed with a nice Confirmation Retreatthis past weekend. We also had a good sized group arrive Sunday through Monday for a President’s Day retreat.
This coming weekend we have the annual Men’s Retreat coming in. It is a great event for the men of our area as well as others from South Dakota, North Dakota and Iowa. It sounds like the weather should be great for the weekend.
We are blessed to tell you a little bit more about the Women’s Retreat coming up on April 24-26. The guest speaker is the well-known Katherine Klemp, is a registered nurse, wife of a retired pastor and mother of eight grown children. The family toured the U.S. as a singing group, “The Klemp Family Singers,” when the children were young. She writes a weekly drama for her church and has led numerous Bible studies and retreats as a Christian speaker. She finds great joy in sharing her faith through the written word. Her book, The Pewsitters, contains skits and devotions for use at church and at home.
The Polar Plunge is coming up soon as well. The jump will happen at around 2:00 on Saturday, February 28th, but there are lots of great activities that will be happening Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Ken was in Grand Rapidsthis past Sunday for a jamboree. Bill is heading to Immanuel Parkers Prairie this Sunday and will be going up to St. Matthews Lutheran in Eskoon March 1.
We added another offsite VBS that we will be working with this coming summer. It will be held in Marshall, MN. They join VBS programs that we will hold in Wahpeton, Benson, and Granite Falls.
We praise God for recent donationsand the Thrivent Action Teamgrant that is helping us move forward with work on the Daniel cabin interior in Sunset Village.
Plans continue to be developed for the Christ Serve Ranch dedicationcoming up August 28-30, 2015. We have lots of opportunities for volunteers both before the event as well as the day of the event. If you would like to help, give us a call. There might even be a t-shirt in it for you.
We just about have all of the brochures out to our congregations. If your congregation has not received them, please let us know so that we can get them to you or at least see what the delay might be.
Our Shoes For The Missionprogram continues to generate some great support for us. We will have a large ingathering of shoes at the Minnesota North District Convention. We’ll have our trailer there to load the shoes into. Don’t forget we accept shoes of all kinds except for flip flops. We are paid by the pound. The shoes then go to Florida to be processed before they are sent on to third world countries.
We want to welcome Stacy Lungto our staff. She actually began working with us back in December. Stacy is working as a contract staff person at this point. She is focusing her efforts on Christ Serve Ranch and getting things ready for this summer. She has developed a number of new programs for our environmental learning center and is working on how best to present the various exhibits, demonstrations, and activities that will be available for the summer and at the dedication in August.
