Tuesday e-news Archives

November 16, 2010

Greetings in Christ!

Winter weather hit our neighbors to the south. Here at camp we didn’t get anything to speak of but the weather has definitely changed. As we prepare for more changes, we also begin our preparations for the celebration of our Savior’s birth.

We’ll be taking next week off from our Tuesday and Wednesday e-news. The reason is that we’re going to be on the road visiting a couple of camps in southern Minnesota. So we’ll wish you a Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving this week.

Please keep our staff member Marvin Swyter and his brother and sisters in your prayers as they minister to their mother, Elizabeth, who is gravely ill in Willmar.

Our Island Christmas Dinners – We’ve started taking reservations for our dinners. It is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy fellowship, entertainment, a great meal, and a sleigh or wagon ride around the Island. Dates are December 5, 10, 11, 12, and 19. The cost is only $15. Give us a call here at camp or e-mail to set up your group or individual registration.

More events are filling up in our Retreat Season. We are excited about groups from St. Cloud, Elk River, Plymouth, Albert Lea, Park Rapids, and many others that have recently contacted us concerning dates. We’ll also be hosting the Circuit Counselors from Minnesota North and North Dakota. Don’t forget our Polar Plunge Weekend and our Teen Trek Extravaganza.

Are you interested in having some of our staff come to help with your VBS or Day Camp? If so, please let us know right away so that we can plan for staffing and resources.

Servant Event partners continue to call us. We now have folks from as far away as Pennsylvania to the east and Montana to the west. Our July 10-15 week is nearly full, but the June weeks still have room. If you are looking for a unique event for your family, consider our Family Servant Event in June. Or, if you really want something special look at our Horseback Servant Event. Both of those events are scheduled for June 7-12, which is a Tuesday through Sunday.

Question and Answer: Question: What happens at camp during December? Answer: You would think we would be able to catch our breath, but December actually is very busy for the staff. We are busy producing the materials for summer 2011 promotion, working on Bible Studies, setting our schedule for visits, sending out Christmas thank you letters, doing inventories, finalizing staffing requirements, working on several mailings, completing schedules for next fall and winter, and planning special events. We will send out nearly 15,000 pieces of mail during December that will include our newsletter, summer brochures, information on upcoming events, and much more. We rely on lots of volunteers so if you’d like to be on our list of “helpers” please let us know.
