Resources and Training

Lutheran Island Camp and Retreat Center offers numerous resources for congregation, parochial schools, congregation and district organizations, and individuals. Listed below is a partial list. If you have training or resource needs, please contact us, we will help find the resources that you need.

Christ Serve is a leadership program for youth ages 14 and older. The training program utilizes the game of chess as a metaphor for leadership training. Youth receive training in communication, planning, problem solving and group dynamics. The intent of the program is to train youth in community service and youth ministry. The training week for 2008 will be June 5-10. Other weekend long training events can be scheduled for individual youth groups. Funding for this training program has been provided by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans

Ambassadors of Reconciliation holds an annual training event at Lutheran Island Camp and Retreat Center. Led by world reknowned reconciler, Ted Kober, this training program brings people to Lutheran Island Camp from around the country. The event is scheduled for September 7-13, 2008. Under All That We Do is a stewardship progam that provides people with the opportunity to discover how they can increase their income, reduce taxes, and provide a long-lasting legacy to their congregation or other charitable organization. Funding for this program has been provided by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

Congregation and organization strategic planning

Lutheran Island Camp and Retreat Center provides an excellent opportunity for congregations, parochial schools, and organizations to develop strategic plans. The process includes an initial onsite visit followed by a 2-3 day retreat at camp. The second onsite visit is then scheduled to fine-tune the plan developed at camp. The final strategic plan is then presented. The cost depends on the size of the congregation and the needs of the organization.

Speakers Bureau

Consider one of the Lutheran Island Camp staff or board members as a speaker for your next rally, conference, or event. Topics can range from family and parenting skills to plans for the future of the camp. We will work with your group to provide and interesting and educational experience.

Outdoor Education

We are ready to provide your parochial school, home school, or public school students with an exciting day at camp filled with learning opportunities, hands-on experiences, and skills learning.

Retreat Planning

New at retreats? We would be happy to work with you to plan a first rate experience for your youth, couples, congregation, parents, and more. Consider doing all of your pre-marriage counseling in one weekend; or bring out an adult confirmation class for a weekend. We are here to serve you.

Partnerships

Driver Improvement Program
Lutheran Island Camp provides monthly opportunities for drivers 55 and older to receive a 10% discount on their car insurance. This is provided in partnership with the Driver Improvement Program at St. Cloud State Minnesota Highway Safety and Resource Center. Program costs are $18 for a 4 hour refresher course and $20 for an 8 hour full course. Click here to download the latest schedule.
