Coronavirus or Covid 19

Most Recent News: All March through May 10th  events at camp are either postponed or canceled.  See below for rescheduling information.

The Lutheran Island Camp Family is very familiar with these words from Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” We encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ to turn to scripture for comfort and inspiration.

First and most important we ask the Lutheran Island Camp and Christ Serve Ranch Family to pray for those affected by this worldwide pandemic. Pray for our President and Vice-President as they lead the nation through this challenge. And, please pray for the Lutheran Island Camp family. We are spread throughout the world with over 65,000 former campers, staff, and participants.

God doesn't bring these kinds of natural events on us, but He does use them to do His will. Watch for His creator presence in how we respond individually, how our scientists develop treatments and vaccines and as we reach out to those most affected.

The latest news is that some of us may be affected into spring and perhaps early summer. We are still planning for a full summer at Lutheran Island Camp, but will make modifications to the schedule as necessary. So we invite you to Come Home To The Island in 2020.  Below you will see a statement from Lutheran Island Camp. Please check back as we develop specific policies and procedures for this summer. There is a list of canceled and postponed events at the end of the statements. We strongly encourage you to sign up for our Tuesday e-news. We will have a section on Covid 19 each week.

From Lutheran Island Camp and Christ Serve Ranch

The safety and health of campers and staff has always been the highest priority for Lutheran Island Camp and Christ Serve Ranch. Because residential camping brings children into close proximity, we have a long history of successfully planning for and managing communicable diseases. With the potential spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) within the United States and in Minnesota in particular, the Lutheran Island Camp Board of Directors and Staff are reviewing and updating our health-related plans and procedures and desire to communicate those plans and procedures with our camp families and staff members. We are working with our partners including local healthcare providers, the CCCA, and the Minnesota Department of Health to make sure that we do everything possible to keep children, families, and staff safe during their stay at Lutheran Island Camp.

While the coronavirus currently poses no immediate concern for our summer camps, we have communicable disease plans in place that will be revised in cooperation with public health authorities as additional COVID-19 guidance is provided. We will be working closely with Otter Tail and Clay County public health department, our local health departments, to maintain effective protocols for the identification and appropriate treatment of any illnesses that may occur at camp, including COVID-19. We want you to know that we will continue to keep our families updated as new information becomes available. Please check with our website, our weekly Tuesday e-news, and Facebook pages for information specific to COVID-19 including cancelations and postponements. If parents or campers have additional questions they may be addressed through or by calling 218-583-2905.

We want to remind parents and camp staff of required pre-camp and arrival day screening procedures that Lutheran Island Camp will implement for each session. Lutheran Island Camp will update these health and wellness screening policies and procedures to reflect the current best practices recommended by public health authorities.

We also want to ask our volunteers, donors, camping families, and congregations to lift the camp and its staff up in prayer.
