Mentored Quilting

January 22-24, 2010

A new retreat will be held on the Island for new quilters wanting a more intimate atmosphere in which to do their own quilting projects. A mentor will be available at the Retreat House, where your lodging and quilting time will be spent. Your meals and devotion times will be shared with the larger quilting group at the Retreat Center. January Quilting Retreat:This is a wonderful time to get away and do nothing but quilt. There are no strangers at our quilting retreats even if this is your first one. Quilters of all skill levels are welcome to come and spend up to 5 days quilting. We have excellent meals, devotions, and plenty of time for you to quilt, hike or ski around the Island, or sit by the fireside. Register early, these events usually fill. Father and Son Ice Fishing Weekend:Join us for our Father/Son Ice Fishing Weekend. We’ll provide housing, great meals, Bible Study, devotions and help find the best fishing spots on lakes in the area. Housing will be in our Retreat House and Martha Cabins. This would be a great program for fathers and sons (or daughters). Dates: February 12-14 Rates: $89

Men's Retreat: Theme “Soldiers of the Cross”The Sub Themes, include: the Church Militant, Equipped for Battle, Identifying the Camouflaged Enemy, Prisoners of War - Addictions, Missing In Action/Ministering to Wounded Soldiers; The Battle Belongs to the Lord. The Church on Earth since the very beginning has been in a spiritual war. The schemes of the evil one are subtle and only in Godly knowledge we learn to identify the enemy and his tactics. On earth we are the Church militant and we face persecution and ridicule by the world, our flesh and the devil. However, in Christ and through Word and Sacrament we are given the victory and the hope and power to over come the world, our flesh and the devil. The means of this victory, the Cross of Christ. This year”s Men's Retreat will tackle this challenging topic by equipping the Men who attend to grow deeper in their faith and trust in Christ and His Word. Join other men in Bible Study, fellowship, recreation, worship, and so much more. A self-serve supper will be available Friday night beginning at 5:00 pm. Other events will include our 3^rd Annual Chili cook-off, broomball tournament, cross-country skiing, sing-a-longs, ice fishing and more. Last Chance Ice Fishing WeekendLate winter fishing is one of the exciting things to do at the Island. We’ll provide meals, Bible Study, devotions, and directions to some of the best fishing places in Otter tail county.
